The Bilderdijk Performance Walk is a one-day event connecting artists and audiences with alternative performance spaces on Bilderdijkstraat.
Bilderdijkstraat and its surroundings are home to newly opened alternative, activist, and queer performance spaces, abandoned theaters, and rehearsal halls, some little known to the public.
Getting to know the neighborhood anew and meeting communities is life-affirming. The Bilderdijk Performance Walk will bring together recent art and choreography graduates, the residents of the West, and performance spaces on a route on Bilderdijkstraat for a one-day event.
Duration: One-day event
Date: End of June- Early July 2025 (Aiming to overlap between Holland Festival and
Julidans- so the walk can also play out as an off-site parallel event)
Possible Locations: Bar Bario, De Trut, Not-for-profit Art Space Motormond, Unused theatre at Tetterode Complex, Pamela Bar, If I can't Dance at WG Complex, Studio Ite Boerema by ICK at Wilhelmina Gasthuisterrein, Kinkerstraat 76-82 Rooftop.
What: Short performances by newly graduated artists and choreographers
The Bilderdijk Performance Walk will create a walking thread between alternative performance spaces on Bilderdijkstraat. It will provide assignments for recent graduates and introduce their work to the residents of the West. The audiences will discover and meet new artists at new spaces, and join new communities.
